La Casita is a beatiful and traditional Canarian house located the region of Garafia, the rural north of La Palma.
Situated on a finca (small holding), La Casita has been carefully restored to provide a comfortable yet quality self-catering holiday cottage. With a truly panoramic view over the Atlantic Ocean, we hope it's the sort of place you'd love to call home.

La Casita
|
La Casita is a traditional and historic Canarian house on the little-known island of La Palma.
It has been carefully restored to provide quality holiday accommodation with modern amenities, yet retaining its very special original features.
Located half-way between the towns of Barlovento and Santo Domingo, La Casita lies away from the main road. For those who like to travel by bus or on foot, the bus stop and GR130 walking route are just 50m away.

Built in the 19th century using local stone and tea wood (the heart of the mountain pine), the walls of the house are almost two-feet thick which gives it a cosy and romantic atmosphere.
La Casita is the original dwelling on the finca built around 150 years ago. It is attached to the main farmhouse, although divided by an attractive wall to help give that all important privacy.

La Casita lies right in the heart of an amazing landscape with views of sweeping greenery and the remote hamlets of El Tablado and Don Pedro.
It has a simply stunning view over the bay of Franceses and the whole of the north coast of La Palma. From the finca, the ridge of the Caldera de Taburiente high above the finca, can also be seen.
Although it is what many guests call 'a piece of paradise,' it is still only 25 minutes from the nearest small town of Barlovento with all its facilities and a 12 minute drive to the sea.
We think it has the best of all worlds.

Downstairs, the spacious lounge with kitchen/dining area, has exposed wooden beams and large, wooden doors with opening windows.

| The lounge area has a comfortable three-seater sofa, a maple cabinet with sets of cups and glasses plus a pine storage unit with information on the island, books and games. A CD/mp3 player is provided and a DVD player with a good selection of DVDs is available on request. |

For your cooking needs, there is a four-ring gas hob, microwave grill, large fridge/freezer, twin sinks and a full range of kitchen utensils. Matching sets of quality crockery are stored in the wooden display shelving built into the wall, a traditional feature of old Canarian houses.

Double doors open out onto two patios with seating and dining table, the ornamental garden complete with its own palm tree to sit under and of course the panoramic sea view.

Upstairs is a large bedroom, once the sleeping accommodation for a Palmeran family with eight children.
Nowadays, it is rather more romantic and as one guest said, 'It's like sleeping in heaven!'

The high wooden ceiling is of the hip or 'cuatro aguas' design, being of four sides. The wide, hand-sawn floorboards are also original and traditional to La Palma and are made of wood from the pine forests, which lie above the casita. |

The antique-style bed has a luxurious duvet of duck down -
light and yet deliciously cosy.
There are also two armchairs in the bedroom so you have comfortable seating both upstairs and downstairs.
La Casita has a very special atmosphere due to its age, history and original features - perfect for a romantic holiday or honeymoon.
