Thanks Ana, I think my trip to La Palma was such a success mainly because of you, your organization skill and the people I met throughout the trekking week.

It's my last day in Tenerife and I am sad to be leaving but I am doing it with a big load of new experience and wonderful memories.

Hope to see you again,

What a lovely homepage, what a lovely house you have in Franceses.

All the best wishes for you from Germany... Heiko

Hello Ann & David,

We’re just back from a weekend walking holiday in Cornwall … another place with a rugged, scenic coastline, but staying in a YHA which was somewhat more Spartan than La Casita!
I also wanted to send you a final ‘thank you’ for arranging our two weeks in La Palma, which we both thoroughly enjoyed.
Thanks again – given the opportunity, we will certainly recommend La Palma to friends.

Very best wishes,

From: Mandy (Sun 21st Apr 2013 at 10:38)
Hello Anne

The holiday in La Palma was lovely and please thank Denise and Lourdes. Casa Lourdes was a lovely place to stay and Lourdes made us a fantastic cake which we so enjoyed.

A week on and hectic at work, it is beginning to feel like a distant memory; but a very happy one!

Thank you again for your help and useful website.

Thank you for an unforgettable stay in La Casita in the begining of March. The place was much more than we expected with a magnificent view to the sea, a cute garden around with the peace of nature. It was very easy to get on the nearest, beautiful walking routes; just from the corner of the house.La Casita is kept with love and big heart. There was everything we needed! Not forgetting La Bodega where you can taste good local wines in candlelight when it's getting dark. Thank you Ann and David for your good advice and kindness. See you next year.

The island was everything we'd hoped for and more and we will definitely be back. The walking was fantastic, far exceeded our expectations, and there's plenty more to do. We've walked on La Gomera as well but La Palma is the definite winner. We did 4 good walks: up to El Time then down into the barranco on the GR 130 and back along the road; from the mirador in Fuencaliente to Pico Benjamado (or something like that!) and back; from Los Canarios to the lighthouse via both volcanos; from El Time to Torre El Time and back. It was also fantastic to swim in the sea and we thought Puerto Tazacorte was a great base. On our 'rest' days we enjoyed a good walk to Los Llanos and the market, and to Tazacorte and the excellent banana museum. The apartment was very comfortable and spacious; our only reservations were the lack of a kettle (we tried to use the coffee maker instead but then just boiled water in a pan) and the bars underneath us being a bit noisy at night (although not until lvery ate). Next time we might look for an apartment with the bedroom facing away from the sea (but then again we'd miss drawing the curtains and watching a fantastic sun-rise each morning!).
We can't wait to see the north of the island next time. What we'd like to do is to come for 2 weeks, maybe over Christmas and New Year next year, and have a week in the north and then another week in the middle or south so we can do the ruta de las volcanes. It would be great to stay at your finca (any worries about the temperature being a lot cooler higher up were definitely dispelled in the week we had!). Anyway we'll be in touch again when the flights are available.
All the best for the new year and keep sending your blogs, which are very informative.

Just to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at La Casita. The accommodation is delightfully authentic but convenient, with abundant hot water and a very comfortable bed. We were particularly grateful for your provision of some essentials we had forgotten to bring with us and for your patience in answering so many questions about life on La Palma.
Thank you for a very relaxing holiday.

Thank you so much for the information.
I have been very impressed with your efficiency in answering all my queries so promptly. We have visited La Palma before and loved the place so much, hence our return. You are very fortunate to live there.

Hi Ann,
We had a wonderful holiday, very relaxing and some good walking.
La Palma is truly a beautiful island - you are lucky to be there!
The Apartment Patricia was brill and the restaurants excellent, especially as our favourite food is fish!
Hope to be back one day.

Hi Ann
Thank you for your email. We had the most lovely holiday and are only sad to be back! The weather was just perfect and we had a good blend of exploring the island and relaxing by the pool at Casa Lourdes. We absolutely loved the house and its positioning and the area. Definitely an area we would go back to and as we didn't get all we wanted to do done in one week, we kept saying that we'll have to come back to do it! We never did get to 'Cubo de Galga' but did some fun off road driving up the gorge opposite St Bartholemew.

Many thanks for all your help in organising this, and we look forward to coming back to La Palma.

From: Deborah and Ian (Sun 30th Sep 2012 at 15:42)
Dear Ann and David, Thanks again for your hospitality, we had an amazing time in La Palma and we'll definitely come back as soon as we can. It was magic and La Casita is so wonderful that coming back to our place in London made us feel a little sad!

Dear Ann
Many thanks for making our holiday to La Palma so very enjoyable! The 2-centre holiday is an excellent idea and I will recommend it to our friends. We really loved Franceses and the countryside around; Tazacorte was also great - did some really good walks. In fact we hope to return as there is so much more to walk and explore.
While we were at the Tazacorte apartment a Dutch or German lady asked about the apartment and we gave her your number and the website- hope that was OK.

From: David and Mary (Fri 4th May 2012 at 14:35)
We had an amazing time thank you ! Casa Maria Cruz was a really great house. We got used to the roads and actually drove around quite happily in the end. We also drove to the observatories
The walks were superb. In particular the Caldera de Taburiente which was tough going due to the high temperature that day but very well worth it. Maybe 2 weeks next time, we didn’t even get to the beaches on the West coast but we went to the Sea Pools.
All in all we had a really great time and would love to visit again and complete the walks we missed and do some on our own. Many thanks for organising everything so well and being so patient with us.

All the best for now and we will be in touch for our next visit.

From Franceses, where we had been so happy with our spectacular ocean view, we went to Los Llanos. We told you about our plan to make a boat trip to see the dolphins and we were not disappointed at all. More than twenty dolphins swam with our boat. In front of the boat and alongside. And they were springing out of the water every time.
Thank you for everything and we wish you much luck

Just wanted to let you know that we are now back home in the UK after a great week in La Palma. Casa Maria was lovely, we particularly enjoyed staying in a traditional house, having breakfast in the sun on the terrace and the tranquil location.

We thought the island really beautiful, and did a bit of walking, a bit of sightseeing and quite a lot of lazing around!

We didn't try to see the whole island, cramming things in just so you can say you have seen it is not what we wanted but we did go to Santa Cruz a couple of times, Playa de Nogales and Roque de los Muchachos - what a trip!

We were both quite sad to leave, but we have some very fond memories.

We found your help and advice invaluable and it is very much appreciated, so thank you very much.

La Casita is a very special place in the rural north of La Palma with outstanding views. We stayed for one week in February 2012 after staying for one week near El Paso in the west. We definitely needed two weeks to explore the island and a two centre holiday cut down on the driving. La Casita is a delightful well equiped and clean cottage ideal for self catering.

3 centre holiday 30 December 2011 - 13 January 2012

Anne helped us to organise this holiday staying at apartments in Los Cancajos, La Casita in Franceses and apartments in Tazacorte. We wanted to walk, snorkel and do some sightseeing. Anne's advice was indispensable as it was our first visit to La Palma and we wanted to make the most of our trip without driving too far each day. The whole experience was wonderful - superb, varied walking, good snorkelling and each place we stayed at was comfortable, clean, lovely views and very good value. However la Casita at Franceses was exceptional. It is a wonderful place to stay with spectacular views out to the sea and nearby unspoilt villages. Both La Casita and David and Anne's house have been thoughtfully restored and Anne was happy to take us to see the 'girls' (chickens) and the ducks. Anne and David explained about the history of their smallholding (finca) and about local life. They organized transport for the Roof of the Island walk from the space observatory at Roque de los Machachos. The weather was brilliant for us and this walk stands out as the most memorable among outstanding walks. They did all this without being at all intrusive. We felt like friends rather than customers.

We stayed in the cottage here for 5 days in October this year, and everything was absolutely delightful. The cottage was beautiful and splendidly equipped, with views and a lcation to die for.

Ann and David were unobtrusive, but very charming and helpful. You could not wish for a lovelier place as a base for walking, or just chilling out.

I stayed here earlier this year. It's a lovely house with a vey big and private garden for sunbathing in. We particularly enjoyed breakfast every morning on the terrace and picking oranges from the tree in the garden. It's a very quiet location but the house is still near the village of El Paso, so you can walk to the shops etc. We did a lot of walking so it was handy the house is near the national park, which has amazing scenary.

I really enjoyed the holiday , the north was great, the walks were like going back in time, great scenery. And so unspoilt. I really liked everything about the finca, so relaxing.
I went to the observatory and the top of the crater before going west. Perfect clear day at top. Amazing place.
Tazarcote was very different! I enjoyed it there too.... Went swimming in sea, had some nice seafood etc. Great sunsets.
Also, I walked around and up tenigiua and san antonio volcano in the south.
Also went to el pilar and did some of the vocano route towards the south.
Got great photos for the album !

Hope I get a chance to visit again in future :)

I stayed in Apartment Patricia for a week with my partner. We took the direct Thompson flight out from LGW and it was so quick and easy.

We absolutely loved the apartment. Very clean and the location is absolutely perfect. It was exactly what we needed - overlooking the beach, shopping and a selection of restaurants. Also, loved the roof terrace with the excellent sunsets and listening to the waves at night. We thoroughly enjoyed it and hoping to return again next year. Highly recommend it.

Hello again and thanks for a great stay at Finca Franceses !

Being a reasonably active amateur-astronomer I was positively thrilled to note that the central portion of the Milky-Way
with its glorious constellations Sagitarius and Scorpius were quite visible from your splendid location making it a joy just to remain on the front terrace of our little cottage as night fell.
Sincerely,

Just to let you know we arrived back safely and there was your lovely e-mail waiting for us. So thank you for that. It certainly was a pleasure to stay in accommodation that was so lovely and clean, I can see you work very hard to keep things so nice and what a difference that makes.
You have a little piece of paradise, where you live but I'm sure you realise that without me telling you. The scenery around you is spectacular.
Best wishes to you both and thanks for a great week.

This was my 4th visit to La Palma in 6 years. I've stayed in some very nice places in different parts of the island but La Casita really takes the honours. Beautifully restored and enhanced by Ann and David. Peaceful and thoroughly relaxing, fabulous views and plenty of excellent and challenging walks starting on the doorstep. My three days passed by too quickly but they were so worthwhile. Definitely another, longer visit next time on La Palma. Fine hosts too, by the way - thanks Ann and David.

Finca Francesces is a tranquil oasis on the bucolic, wild northern coast with breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding countryside. David and Ann are gracious hosts with a deep knowledge and passion for the island's walking opportunities. Highly recommended.

This is such a lovely place to stay. Ann & David are super hosts as they have the brilliant knack of allowing you complete privacy if you want it, but are also happy to chat to you if you like to have some conversation. They open up the candlelit 'bodega' and the larger kitchen/dining space with a log fire (very nice for those slightly chilly evenings in December).
The accommodation is excellent, the location superb with stunning sea vistas. There are so many nice touches too - fresh eggs from the hens, provisions you can purchase at cost or replace on your next shop trip and various other bits and bobs for loan - books, DVDs etc
Everything is on hand such as hairdryer, towels, throws etc and a beautiful roll-top bath with shower and view!

Pancho the cat is in residence (which we love) but he doesn't go into the guest accommodation (so no worries for anyone with allergies). He will just appear from time to time in the grounds to say hello.

Ann & David have made a super job of restoring the place and it is perfect for a stay in La Palma. We would love to go back in a different season too.

Dear Ann and David,
We would like to thank you for the wonderful days we have had at your lovely casita. Thank you for the very good care (the tomatoes and beans were very tasty). And the wine was excellent, thank you for this nice gift. Also thank you for the lovely people you are, we felt very welcome and at home right away and we are kind of sad that we had to leave!

From: Bob and Mary (Mon 9th Aug 2010 at 12:00)
We have just returned from a very relaxing holiday at La Cassita - a real 'place out of time' with a very low key tourist industry. Sometimes the only noise we heard was the sea far below us as we sat appreciating the panoramic view - magical. La Casita is a wonderful, atmospheric property; full of history and has been sensitively restored and equiped with mod cons by Ann and David. We were made to feel very welcome and left little treats such as fresh eggs and vegetables. This was our first visit to La Palma and we were struck by the lush beauty of the North Coast. Ann and David are very well informed about the area and were a great help to us in planning where to go and what to see. This holiday would suit walkers of all abilities or those, like us, who just want to 'chill out'. The total absence of nightlife would be a bonus to some, but would make the choice unsuitable for others. We enjoyed some lazy lunches in country restaurants, investigating local wines and cuisine.
The descriptions of the property on the website are very accurate; it definitely does what it says on the tin!

From: Simon & Catherine (Sat 26th Jun 2010 at 13:11)
A week in the Casita is the perfect tonic to unwind from the grind of modern life. The house itself is perfect: traditional but well equipped, a cool retreat from the midday sun, quiet and cosy, and the views.... The setting is amazing and can be appreciated from the house and the private patio. Ann and David are the perfect hosts - discreet but always on hand when needed and very knowledgable about the island. We hope to return soon.

"No habia ningun tipo de ruido, absoluta tranquilidad. El entorno inmejorable; montaña y vistas al mar, al ser la zona norte de la Palma. Bien equipado. Los propietarios encantadores, con todo tipo de atenciones, incluidos huevos y verduras frescas El acceso es algo complejo pero es lo normal para acceder a un sitio tan maravilloso."

We recently spent a week at La Casita. We were very impressed with the quality of the accommodation which is located in a lovely part of the island. We had a spectacular view of the Atlantic from the property and easy access to stunning walks. The bedroom and ensuite bathroom were very tastefully decorated and very spacious. Our hosts Ann and David were very friendly and prepared a really useful information pack with a good range of information on things to do locally. We would highly recommend staying there.

You have got it absolutely right, it is a very special place run by very special people and we both wish you a successful year ahead with lots of nice guests.

We made a two-week-tour over La Palma and had five different adresses. Our stay in the bed and breakfast in Franceses was surely the most special, authentic and warm place to stay. The house and the people were so lovely! We have the most special memories of this place. The 'bodega' was a lovely place, with many nice candles! Also the environment in the Northern part of La Palma is very special and beautiful! We recommended already several people to go there; don't hesitate to have a very special stay on La Palma!
